10 weeks of hard training…. May 30th, 2010

Russell – fitness consultant for the North South Solo expedition

Today I spent a couple of hours training with Russell – my fitness consultant for the North South Solo expedition. Over the next 10 weeks he will be working on cardiovascular – strength and resistance areas to prepare me for the expedition itself. Though I have a million and one other things to concentrate on in the build up to the expedition I feel that preparing me physically and mentally for the journey is a major part of its possible success.

Due to the changing environment out in the Polar Regions gone are the days when you can just turn up and “give it a go”

Today we went for a 40 minute run followed by a whole body approach weights session along with abdominal training. As a 43 year old man I need to also look at my food intake so it’s a real change of life style for me – but what an incredible opportunity.

Over the next 10 weeks I will be posting some of the training up on the site and I welcome any questions you may have.  Take a look at the training team at;
