Skills and experience required

Island Peak, is commonly referred to as a ‘trekking peak’, and as such can be attempted by those with nominal winter mountaineering experience, under the supervision of an experienced climbing guide.

The summit can be attempted by those with no prior experience, however we recommend that inexperienced individuals wishing to attempt the summit seek an introduction to the skills required, for this type of ascent, prior to the start of the trip.
